Appeals court upholds McDonnell guilty verdict

Richmond, Va. – The Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit has upheld the guilty conviction for former Governor Bob McDonnell.

Back in May, McDonnell filed an appeal of his conviction on public corruption charges.

Last year McDonnell was sentenced to two years in prison after a jury found him guilty of using his office to help businessman Jonnie Williams promote his dietary supplement business.

Williams gave Bob McDonnell and his wife Maureen $177,000 in gifts and loans. McDonnell’s lawyer argued that Williams got nothing in return.
