Newport News, Va. - Stephen King has too much space at his warehouse in Newport News.

So he started looking to fill it.

"What could with the building that could be fun and primarily what could I involve my family in."

They chose to make bourbon.

It's name is ironclad.

"We portioned off about 2,500 square feet to be able to do it with the anticipation that someday hopefully the whole building becomes the distillery."

King's whole family is involved in the business, including production.

"My youngest son is going to be the master distiller. He has a much finer pallet than I have and he is much more capable of defining taste differences."

Owen king has the burden of the bourbon.

The success of the family business rides on his ability to distill.

But they'll have to wait a year for the bourbon to age first.

"Most people are smart and they start with clears like vodka and gin because you can make it and the next day you can sell it. We're doing it a little backwards because that's the way our family works. It's kind of the fun of it. Learning what you're doing wrong, what you're doing right and learn from your mistakes."

King and his family are hoping in a year their bottles will be on the shelves of local ABC stores then eventually branching out to all of Virginia.
