Newport News, Va. - Police have arrested a woman and charged her with three counts of indecent liberties with a child after incidents that took place involving students of Woodside High School.
On Thursday at about 3:25 p.m., police arrested 34-year-old Melissa Waters Kidd of the first block of Raptor Boulevard in Hampton.
Kidd was arrested for three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and was placed in the custody of the Newport News City Jail, according to police.
Police say the two female victims were 16 years old and 17 years old at the time the offenses occurred. At the time the offenses were reported to have occurred, Kidd was a teacher at the school, NewsChannel 3 has learned.
Upon receipt of a CPS referral, the Newport News Police Department Special Victims Unit began an investigation into an allegation that between January 2015 and March 2015, a teacher at Woodside High School had shown a student inappropriate photographs on a cell phone.
The alleged offense occurred at the school, police say.
