Virginia Beach, Va. – Crews responded to a house fire in Virginia Beach overnight.
The call came in at 1:28 a.m. for a garage fire, fire officials tell NewsChannel 3.
Firefighters arrived on scene at 1:33 a.m. and found a garage fire that could have possibly been spreading to the attic.
The family and their dog had evacuated the home safely before crews arrived, NewsChannel 3 has learned.
The fire was extinguished and crews cleared the attic by 1:52 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Dominion Virginia Power was called for a downed power line in the yard.
The family is being assisted by the Red Cross.
