Suffolk, Va. – Fire crews put out a structure fire in a vacant building in the 3400 block of Holland Road/Route 58 Saturday morning.
Emergency Dispatchers were notified of the incident at 10:56 a.m. and the first units arrived on scene at 11 a.m. to find the small single story vacant dwelling fully involved.
The fire was marked under control at 11:18 a.m. There were no injuries.
Engine 4, Engine 1, Engine 2, Ladder 6, Rescue 1, Medic 7A, EMS 1, Tanker 1, Battalion 1 and units from the Holland Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident.
Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Holland Road/Route 58 were shut down while a water line was run across the highway to a fire hydrant. Two eastbound lanes and one westbound lane were opened shortly after the fire was extinguished. One westbound lane remained closed for approximately one hour.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is handling the investigation as the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
