Two Virginia Beach men charged in cat’s death

Virginia Beach, Va. – Two men have been arrested after a cat was killed in Virginia Beach, according to police.

On Friday, April 10, 2015 a citizen notified Animal Control of a possible animal cruelty case involving a domesticated cat that had been killed.

Animal Control officers opened an investigation and were able to locate the deceased cat near the 1000 block of Prosperity Road in Virginia Beach, police say.

A necropsy is being conducted on the cat due to signs of an unnatural death.

Through the investigation, officers were able to identify two suspects in the cat’s death.

The first suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Justin Cory Fitzgerald Page of the 600 block of Hempstead Court in Virginia Beach. Page has been charged with one count of Felony Animal Cruelty and was released on bond.

The second suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Cody Craig Gerarden of the 600 block of Hempstead Court in Virginia Beach. Gerarden has been charged with one count of Felony Animal Cruelty and was released on bond.

The case remains under investigation.
