Virginia Beach, Va. - An argument led to a shooting that took a father's life, according to court documents. For months, there haven't been clear answers into what led to the death of Manny Lacerna last December, but newly unsealed court documents shed some insight.
Lacerna, 41, was killed inside his house on Peregrine Avenue, according to police. His six year-old daughter was at the home at the time, but in a different room. A grand jury has indicted a 17-year-old, named Tyler King, on a second-degree murder charge and a charge of using a firearm in commission of a felony. The 17-year-old is being charged as an adult.
Court documents say Lacerna invited King over to his house and they were drinking at the kitchen. At some point, Lacerna was shot in the chest and then King left the house, according to court documents. Lacerna died at the scene.
NewsChannel 3 spoke with Lacerna's wife, Vangie. She says she's not sure what led up to the argument and shooting at the house. She says her husband would have local teenagers over the house, so they didn't mess with the family.
Months after the shooting, she says she still misses her husband of almost eight years, and says she's still looking for clearer answers and justice into her husband's death.
