Man charged in November assault at ODU Rugby party pleads not guilty

Norfolk, Va. – The 19-year-old man arrested for his involvement in the November 2nd assault that injured three ODU rugby players pleaded not guilty to all charges in court on Thursday.

Chris D. Slade was arrested November 18th and charged with three counts of Aggravated Malicious Wounding with result in severe injury or permanent damage.

All of those charges were certified to the Grand Jury. Two of those charges were certified as is while the third count was modified to just Malicious Wounding, a lesser charge, because the third victim’s injuries were not as severe.

He also faced a Malicious Wounding by Mob charge.

In court on Thursday, Slade pleaded not guilty to all four charges. He waived a bench trial and will be tried by a jury on May 18th.
