Norfolk, Va. - A 13-year-old is in custody after crashing a van while fleeing police in Norfolk.

Shortly before 3am officers observed the van travelling at a high rate of speed with no headlights on at Chesapeake Blvd and Cromwell Road.

Officers activated emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle immediately turned onto Robin Hood Road and struck a power pole, a car, and then the porch of a residence in the 3800 block of Robin Hood Road.

The boy then ran away, but was caught a short time later.  Petitions were secured for Unauthorized use of Vehicle.

Next door neighbor Keith Isom was awakened by the crash and came outside to discover it was his car that had been hit.

"I just heard like a loud boom and I actually felt it too and I seen like red lights through the blinds and I still didn't know what happened..."

Virginia Dominion Power responded to repair the light pole and restore power. No injuries were reported.
