Wells Fargo bank robbery suspect arrested in Virginia Beach hotel

Virginia Beach, Va. - A man has been arrested for the bank robbery that occurred Monday morning at the Wells Fargo branch located at 1612 Independence Boulevard.

Virginia Beach Police say the robbery occurred Monday at approximately 10:10 a.m.

A man walked into the bank implying that he had a weapon. He handed the teller a note demanding money. He then left the scene on foot and was last seen heading southbound on Independence Boulevard.

The man was located at the America's Best Value Inn at 5725 Northampton Boulevard later on Monday afternoon. He has been identified as 26-year-old Joshua Matthew Allen of Norfolk. Allen was charged with Robbery and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He is currently in the Virginia Beach City Jail without bond.

While detectives and officers were conducting a search for Allen at the hotel, a police dog bit a young boy. Police attended to the boy before continuing their search. Allen was apprehended approximately 10 minutes later in the hotel parking lot.
