UPDATE: Two women killed in Suffolk crash identified

Suffolk, Va. - Two women were killed in a crash in Suffolk on Tuesday morning.

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene of a two car accident in the 8700 block of Whaleyville Boulevard involving a head-on collision of a minivan and a PT Cruiser near the North Carolina line.

Emergency Dispatch received the call at 8:05 a.m. notifying of the incident, police say.

The two women inside of the PT Cruiser were pronounced deceased at the scene. They have been identified as 60-year-old Teresa Brooks Brown and 84-year-old Bernice Ping Brooks, a mother and daughter from Colerain, North Carolina.  Brown was driving the PT Cruiser.

One male occupant of the minivan was ground transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries following treatment and assessment by Suffolk Fire and Rescue personnel.

The driver of the minivan has been determined to be the at-fault driver and charges are pending following the investigation.
