UPDATE: Tallwood High School student hit by vehicle in Virginia Beach; Driver likely to be charged

UPDATE:  NewsChannel 3 spoke with police on Thursday and they say the driver of the vehicle will likely be charged. The investigating officer intends to issue a summons but has not done so yet police say.

Virginia Beach, Va. - Police are investigating after a female student from Tallwood High School was hit by a vehicle after getting off of a school bus on Wednesday afternoon.

This happened in the 1100 block of Diamond Springs Road. Calls came in at 2:42 p.m. about the incident.

Police say students were getting off of the bus and at the time, another vehicle came from behind trying to avoid the bus and another stopped vehicle.

The vehicle veered to the right, went across the sidewalk and hit a brick fence.

They say somewhere during this the student was hit. The student's injuries are not life-threatening.

There's no word on charges right now.
