Virginia Beach, Va. - A family dog was mauled to death.

“They attacked him, they hunted him and they killed him,” Telia Dunlap says.

Telia and her daughter Alexis Dunlap say their four-year-old Shih Tzu named Polo, was viciously killed by their neighbor's dogs.

“It was three dogs that attacked him,” Alexis says. “It would`ve been different if it was one. He couldn`t get away. They just mauled him.”

It happened over the weekend at their home on Ole Town Lane in Virginia Beach.

They say the three dogs, a pit bull, lab and mutt jumped over the chain link fence into their yard where Polo was.

“There is no monetary value for Polo,” Telia says. “He was like a relative.”

This was the first time Telia and Alexis say the dogs have jumped the fence, but now they're scared it could happen again to their other dog.

“When I go to let my dog out every morning and every night, he`s actually scared and so am I,” she says.

Police have charged their neighbor, Scott Reichmann, with having his dogs at large but Alexis says that's not enough.

“I just want the dogs put to sleep,” she says.

Reichmann has since built up his backyard fence with wooden slats to make it taller.

However, Telia and Alexis say it's too little too late.

“What about our dog, Polo?” Telia says. “He`s dead, we`re never going to see him again. We just want justice served, that`s all.”

NewsChannel 3 reached out to Reichmann at his home, but he did not want to comment. He’s scheduled to be in court late next month.
