Norfolk, Va. – The U.S. Navy guided-missile frigate USS Elrod (FFG 55) was decommissioned during a ceremony Friday at Naval Station Norfolk.
After the decommissioning, only one Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate remains in the fleet — the deployed USS Kauffmann (FFG 59).
The Kauffman is scheduled to be decommissioned this fall.
