Katharine the great white shark is back along the North Carolina coast.

The 14-foot, 2,300 pound shark was tracked inside the Pamlico Sound over the weekend but now appears to be cruising south of the Outer Banks, according to the Outer Banks Voice.

The shark is being tracked by the research group Ocearch. She was originally tagged off Cape Cod, Massachusetts on Aug. 19, 2013, and named Katharine after Katharine Lee Bates, songwriter of “America the Beautiful.”

Her location is determined when the tagged shark’s dorsal fin breaks the surface of the water and transmits a signal to a satellite. The transmission then pings back an estimated geo-location, according to Ocearch.

Ocearch pinged her location from inside the sound southwest of Oregon Inlet Friday night and again near the mouth of the Pamlico River on Saturday moring.
