Virginia Beach, Va. – A 25-year-old man is facing several charges including DWI second offense after the vehicle he was driving crashed on Lynnhaven Parkway at the base of the I-264 overpass.

Officials were called about a single vehicle accident at around 1 a.m.  on Wednesday.

Officials say Robert Ryan Pirzad  was driving a 2008 Nissan 350Z from westbound I-264 to Southbound Lynnhaven Parkway. When he was getting off of the exit, he lost control of the vehicle and started to slide towards the overpass hitting the jersey wall and the concrete support of the overpass.

Both Pirzad and his passenger were taken to a hospital. The passenger is now listed in critical condition.

Pirzad is facing charges including DWI second offense, maiming as a result of driving and DWI refusal of test. He is now being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.

This case is still under investigation.
