Dare County, N.C. (WTKR) - North Carolina has released the latest unemployment figures and while two coastal communities were the only ones in the state to see increases, the news isn't all bad.

Figures released by the North Carolina Department of Commerce - Labor and Economic Analysis Division show both Currituck and Dare Counties posted increases for the month of October.

The figures, which are not seasonally adjusted, show 98 other counties in North Carolina saw decreases.

In October, unemployment in Currituck was up 0.2 percent over September 2014 and Dare County was up 0.3 percent over September 2014.

Year to year though, both counties actually saw unemployment decrease.

Currituck County unemployment is down 0.7 percent over October 2013 and Dare County is down 1.9 percent over October 2013.

"You know it's really good news. It's good news for our folks that live here all year round that they still have jobs available to them. I know even when I've been out this week there's some help wanted signs," Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Karen Brown told NewsChannel 3's Todd Corillo Thursday.

Brown says good weather in the "shoulder season" of September and October may be a contributing factor and the weather could also have an impact on the unemployment figures this winter.
