A federal judge has rejected a bid from former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell and his wife Maureen, for a new trial, according to WTVR.

U.S. District Judge James R. Spencer also threw out one of Maureen McDonnell’s nine guilty verdicts. The obstruction of justice charge was the only conviction that her defense attorneys were able to argue against. Judge Spencer upheld the convictions on eight counts of public corruption.

Bob and Maureen McDonnell were found guilty of numerous criminal charges in a six-week corruption trial ending in September.

The couple traded favors to businessman Jonnie Williams in exchange for loans, vacations and luxury gifts.

Maureen is set to be sentenced in February.

Bob was set to be sentenced in January.
