Dog killed, six without a home after South Norfolk house fire

Chesapeake, Virginia -  A dog was killed and six people are unable to return to their home after a fire Sunday night.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 1100 block of Park Avenue in the South Norfolk area around 10:30pm.

The fire was out shortly after 3:00am. A second dog was rescued from the flames.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The three story home had been converted into three separate apartments. Five adults and one child lived there.

They are now being assisted by the Red Cross.
