A fire broke out at the Hampton Roads Sanitation District Recycling facility around 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning, the Virginia Beach Fire Department confirms.
The facility is located at 1989 Jake Sears Road off Centerville Turnpike.
Authorities say recyclable material in the landfill caught fire but they do not know what started the fire yet.
