Norfolk, Va. – Police are now investigating after they say a man was hit by a car Tuesday evening in Norfolk.

On Tuesday, November 4 shortly before 7:30 p.m., a 41-year-old man was hit by a vehicle in the 1000 block of Brambleton Avenue.

The man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for his injuries sustained in the accident, where he is currently listed in critical condition, police say.

The man stepped into the roadway and was incidentally struck by a 2003 Mitsubishi traveling eastbound, according to the police investigation. The driver and vehicle stayed at the scene for police arrival.

There was no indication of the driver being impaired and speed does not appear to have been a factor.

Charges have not been filed against the driver at this time, and the Norfolk Traffic Unit is currently leading the investigation.
