The Sears store and Sears Auto Center at Chesapeake Square Mall will close to the public in mid-January, the company confirmed to NewsChannel 3.
The store will remain open to customers until then and will begin its liquidation sale on October 31st.
Spokesman Howard Riefs says the closing is part of the chain’s efforts to “reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base, and accelerate the transformation of our business model.”
The Chesapeake Square store has 82 employees. Eligible associates will receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other area stores.
