UPDATE: Man charged with murder in Newport News homicide investigation

UPDATE: On Monday night, police say someone shot a 30-year-old man to death. The victim has now been identified as Thunder Cloud Sundeen of the 900 block of Daphia Circle. 

Police have also arrested and charged Christopher Griffin, 36, of the first block of Winston Avenue. Police say Sundeen was visiting Griffin and a woman at the time. Police say they had all been drinking. 

Police arrested Griffin on Tuesday at 12:39 p.m. He has been charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Newport News, Va. - A man has died after he was fatally shot in Newport News on Monday night.

This happened in the 00 block of Winston Avenue. At around 8:52 p.m., police say a man and a woman heard a knock at their front door and what the believed to be a gunshot.

They were in another room of the home at the time and came to the front of the home where they saw the victim. They say the man was in his 30s. He had a wound to his body.

Police say a man who was wearing a white shirt was spotting running away. The two residents followed and ran to the 90 block of Huber Road to another home. They called police.

The man was pronounced dead at 10:27 p.m.
