Newport News, Va.- A 29-year-old woman is now in custody charged with first-degree murder after police say she took her husband's life.

Rose Marie Uribes, 29, drove to a family member's house in Gloucester and told them what she'd done, police say.

The family member then alerted authorities and Gloucester County Deputies took her back to Newport News where she is now in custody.

Newport News Police received a call from the Mathews County Sheriff's Office at 10:40 a.m. on Friday in reference to a possible homicide in the 100 block of Watson Drive in the Kiln Creek area.

Officers arrived at the location, set up a perimeter and made entry into the home. A man, identified as 30-year-old Zacarias Uribes II, was found inside the home lying on the floor near the front door.  He was pronounced dead at the home at 11:26 a.m.

Neighbors are trying to make sense of it all. "I guess you really never know what goes on behind closed doors or what goes on in someone's life. You never really know," said Anthony Alleva, who lives next door.

Alleva describes the family as friendly. "He'd always have a smile on his face, and just a very, very friendly guy, so it was a pretty rough day. It seemed like everything was in a fog all day long."
