Norfolk, Va. - It was a scary bus ride home for 13-year-old Nijsha Bigsby.

“He was sitting in the seat and he was holding his neck," she says describing the scene on her bus when one of her classmates stabbed another. "I was in the back and I heard everybody saying, 'They're about to fight, they're about to fight.'"

Bigsby, an eighth grader at Lake Taylor Middle School, says one of her classmates stabbed another with scissors. Norfolk police say a 13-year-old boy attacked an 11-year-old boy, stabbing him following an argument.

Students on the bus, along with neighbors say the boy was bleeding from his neck.

"I saw the tears running down his face," Bigsby says.

“When you hear of a child being stabbed in the neck on a middle school bus, it`s kind of alarming,” says Jerome Godbee, who lives along Stafford Street where the incident happened Monday.

Police say the 11-year-old had minor injuries; he was taken to the hospital and later released.

"We should feel safe when we ride the bus and we should know that nothing is going to happen to us, and after that I don't know what's going to happen when I ride that bus," Bigsby says.
