UPDATE: Gunshot victim at Suffolk hospital arrested in deadly Norfolk shooting

Norfolk, Va. - One man was killed and several others were wounded in a shooting at the intersection of Reservoir Avenue and Goff Street early Sunday morning.

Norfolk Police have arrested one man they believe is possibly related to the shooting.

Police say they responded to reports of gunshots at the intersection at 4:15 a.m. and learned that three victims had been transported in a private vehicle to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

One of the men, 24-year-old Jordan Smith, was declared dead shortly after they arrived. Two other men sustained non-life threatening injuries and at last check, were listed as stable.

At around 12:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, a man walked into Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk asking for treatment for an apparent non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Tecorey Fortson

An investigation revealed that the man, 23-year-old Tecorey D. Fortson, was present at the shooting scene. Witnesses say Fortson brandished a gun and threatened a woman shortly before the shooting took place.

Fortson was shot shortly before fleeing from the area.

At this time, he has been charged with one count of Brandishing a Firearm and once count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He is being held without bond at the Norfolk City Jail.

The shooting remains under investigation by Norfolk Police Detectives.

They are requesting the public's assistance in providing more information on potential suspect(s) in the shooting. No motive for the shooting has been confirmed.
