Suffolk, Va. - Busted and broken-- vandals damaged multiple mailboxes in one Suffolk neighborhood near downtown overnight Tuesday.

"I was disgusted," says 83-year-old Rachel Roberson, whose mailbox was damaged in front of her home on Williams Road.

She says she'd never had any property damage until now.

"I looked and I said 'shoot, my mailbox is down,’" Roberson says. "It was all the way down on the ground. The box was messed up where I couldn't get it back up. I kept trying."

Her mailbox is back up now; a neighbor across the street took action to help.

"You know men, how they are with drills and screws and everything,” she says. “He fixed it in no time and I thought it was so sweet of him."

Roberson says she relies on USPS to get much-needed prescriptions delivered to her home. She also pays her utility bills through the mail.

Now though, Roberson says she plans to drive to the post office.

"I’m about afraid to put my mail out here anymore," she says.

Vandals also damaged boxes along Normandy and Mayflower Drive in Roberson's neighborhood. Most were bent or uprooted, but there were a few mailboxes that were completely busted off of their posts.

Police don't have any suspects at this point.

"I’d like to get a hold of whoever did it," Roberson says.

If you have any information for investigators, you can take action and call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

"I’d tell them they ought to be real sorry for what they did and try to make up for it," Roberson says.
