USS Bataan sailors assist fishing vessel in distress in the Arabian Gulf

Sailors from the Norfolk-based amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) responded to a fishing vessel in distress in the Arabian Gulf on Tuesday, August 19th.

The USS Bataan posted pictures to their Facebook page showing the sailors approaching the vessel on a rigid hull inflatable boat and deploying a personnel landing boat from the ship.

 

The Bataan is the flagship for the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
