Officials destroy moonshine still and bust illegal alcohol operation in Franklin County

moonshineFranklin County, Va. – ABC Agents destroyed a moonshine still and brokeĀ up an illegal bootleg alcohol operation in Franklin County.

Virginia ABC special agents and sheriff’s deputies were behind the bust in the Rocky Mount area of Franklin County after someone called in a tip to authorities.

300 gallons of a liquid mix areĀ being processed and more than 40 gallons of untaxed liquor and numerous other pieces of distilling equipment and supplies were found.

A 49-year-old man is expected to be charged, and police say they believe he was selling the booze to underage customers.

The case is still under investigation.
