Man arrested, charged in box cutter incident

Newport News, Va. – A man was arrested and charged with malicious wounding over the weekend in Newport News after allegedly cutting his roommate with a box cutter.

On Saturday at approximately 4:30 a.m., a 47-year-old Newport News man told police that he and his roommate, 53-year-old Kenneth Fowler, got into an argument at their home and Fowler allegedly cut the victim’s back with a box cutter.

Other roommates reportedly broke up the fight.

The victim had bruises and a large cut on his back, police say. He refused medical treatment.

Fowler was arrested at his home, and charged with malicious wounding.

While being processed for the arrest police say Fowler became verbally aggressive with the officer and was also charged with obstruction of justice.
