Woman mocked over stretch marks at the beach posts response on Facebook, story goes viral

Edmonton, Canada – A 33-year-old mother was attempting to sunbathe while her children played at Alberta Beach in Edmonton, Canada, when she was mocked over her stretch marks.

“All of a sudden I heard, ‘oh my god, look at that, that’s f****ng nasty, that’s disgusting, look how gross that is,’” Tanis Jex-Blake told GlobalNews.

When she opened her eyes, she saw a woman and two men pointing at her and pretending to kick her. Jex-Blake says she tried to ignore the rude remarks, but couldn’t hold back the tears while driving home.

She posted the story on Facebook and it has gone viral.

“This is an open letter to the 2 guys and 1 girl who decided to skip work today in Sherwood Park where they were building a house, but instead decided to come to Alberta Beach to relax in the sun, enjoy the water and some beers. I’m sorry if my first attempt at sun tanning in a bikini in public in 13 years “grossed you out”. I’m sorry that my stomach isn’t flat and tight. I’m sorry that my belly is covered in stretch marks. I’m NOT sorry that my body has housed, grown, protected, birthed and nurtured FIVE fabulous, healthy, intelligent and wonderful human beings. I’m sorry if my 33 year old, 125 lb body offended you so much that you felt that pointing, laughing, and pretending to kick me. But I’ll have you know that as I looked at your ‘perfect’ young bodies, I could only think to myself “what great and amazing feat has YOUR body done?”. I’ll also have you know that I held my head high, unflinching as you mocked me, pretending that what you said and did had no effect on me; but I cried in the car on the drive home. Thanks for ruining my day. It’s people like you who make this world an ugly hateful place. I can’t help but feel sorry for the women who will one day bear your children and become “gross” in your eyes as their bodies change during the miraculous process of pregnancy. I can only hope that one day you’ll realize that my battle scars are something to be proud of, not ashamed of.”

A Edmonton radio station shared the photo, which has shared over 200,000 times.

You GO GIRL. I wish I was125lbs again, I would be rocking that bikini too. Yes having childre is AWESOME, I have three myself and the scars too. As long as you love yourself and your family does, the hell with what other people say…

I’d like to know who made these people God? Someone needs to inform the idiots that no one is perfect. I too have stretch marks and would not have hesitated to knock them down a peg or two.

She looks amazing! I have three children, and two of them being twins and I will continue to wear a bikini although my body isn’t what it use to be. People who mpck someone based on their apperance are obviously immature, ignorant, and not happy in their own lives.

I am generally a peaceful guy, fairly non-confrontational; but I would have given these clowns such a dressing down that they’d have left in tears. This lady is a real lady, her scars prove she is a warrior-princess. I applaud her having the confidence to go out there- but frankly she shouldn’t need “confidence”; she should be able to rely on basic human respect. Any man who thinks himself a man should do know less when he sees a princess attacked by monsters. Wish I had been there.

Awesome blog you have here but I was curious about if you knew of any discussion boards that cover the same
topics discussed in this article? I’d really like to be
a part of online community where I can get advice from other knowledgeable people that share
the same interest. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.
    Appreciate it!
