UPDATE: Suffolk Police have discontinued the search in the area where David Christopher Gillespie’s wrecked vehicle was found in a ditch on Lake Cohoon Road earlier this morning. Following an intensive search by Suffolk Police, Suffolk Fire & Rescue Search and Rescue Team, with the assistance of Regional Communications equipment as well as tracking dogs from the Hampton Police Department, there was no indication that Gillespie was still in the area, police say. While Gillespie is considered missing, he does not fall into a suspicious or endangered category at this time, according to police.
Suffolk, Va. – The Suffolk Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in finding a man who has been missing since his vehicle was found in a ditch earlier this morning.
David Christopher Gillespie, age 40, whose last known address was in Chesapeake, has not been seen since his 4-door Buick was located after it apparently crashed in a ditch in the rural wooded area of the 2000 block of Lake Cohoon Road at approximately 1:00 a.m., police say.
Gillespie is described as a white male, 5’8”, 145 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
Police have been in communication with his family, who say they have not been contacted by Gillespie.
Police are being assisted by the Suffolk Fire & Rescue Search and Rescue Team.
While Gillespie is considered missing, he does not fall into a suspicious or endangered category at this time.
