Failed home invasion with fake shotgun leaves one hospitalized, one on the run

Newport News, Va. – One man is in the hospital and another is on the run after a failed home invasion with a fake shotgun in Newport News early Tuesday morning.

The two forced their way into a rooming house on 31st street around 4:45am, police say.

After entering the house, they forced their way into a room armed with two pipes bound together to resemble a shotgun and began to attack and rob the man that lived in that room.

The man quickly realized it was not a real shotgun and fought back injuring the suspects.

One man was hospitalized with injuries, the other escaped.

The victim says he only had $13 on him and was asleep when the suspects broke into the home.

Stay tuned for updates as they become available.

Ha Ha! Stupid crooks got what they deserved. It’s too bad the victim didn’t have a real shotgun.
