According to the York Co. Sheriff's Office, the girl was walking a neighbor's dog in the Seaford Shores Subdivision Saturday around 8 p.m.
She was near Raymond Dr. and Kenneth Dr. when the man approached her in a white work van and asked if she wanted "to go someplace cool."
The girl told the man her mom was watching and walked away. The man drove off. Deputies searched the area but did not find the van.
According to the sheriff's office, it was a white man in his late 40s to early 50s with long white and brown hair that was balding on top. He was wearing a dirty white t-shirt with a dark stain around the neck.
The van is described as an old, white, beat-up work van with a black ladder rack with no ladders. There was something written on the side, but the victim could not provide details.
