Newport News, Va. – The second person in the car that crashed on I-64 westbound in Newport News Wednesday night has died.
State Police say a 1998 BMW ran off the roadway and struck a tree around 9:16pm near the 252 mile marker.
The driver died at the scene and the passenger had to be extracted from the vehicle.
The passenger was airlifted to the hospital where she later died of her injuries.
The passenger has been identified as 21 year-old Lashell Hogans of the 12000 block of Tahiska Lane in Newport News.
Once notification has been made to the family of the driver, the driver’s identity will be released.
The accident remains under investigation.
