Teen shot in Newport News on 29th Street

Newport News, Va. – Newport News Police say a 17-year-old has been hospitalized after a shooting on Tuesday evening.

Police say they were called at 5:34 p.m. and notified of a shooting in the 800 block of 29th Street.

According to investigators, the teen was standing on the porch talking to a group of people when when a black man showed up, shot him in the leg and back and left.

The 17-year-old was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his back and leg.

Police say he is being uncooperative to the investigation. Officers spoke to several people in the area but were unable to obtain a suspect description.

    if he feels the need to be uncooperative, the police should have just left him standing on his front porch. No need for an ambulance, no need for an investigation.

    If he is being uncooperative then he probably knows who did it. I say lock him up for obstruction! Something needs to be done with these teens and young adults, so if they don’t cooperate…Lock them up!
