Austin, Texas – A 19-year-old man in Texas is facing up to 99 years in prison for baking and selling marijuana brownies, according to a report from WGHP.

The severity of the potential sentence is generating outrage. Cheers erupted as Jacob Lavoro recently talked to his supporters and the media, WGHP reports.

Lavoro is charged with a first degree felony for possessing 1.5 pounds of drugs. He faces five years to life in prison.

Around 100 of his supporters gathered outside the Williamson County Courthouse recently prior to a pre-trial court hearing.

They held signs, sold shirts, and talked about the move to decriminalize marijuana.

“I’m not a criminal, I’m just a kid,” Lavoro said.

Lavoro said he was sickened when he first heard how much time in prison he is facing.

That’s the prob. with legalizing marijuana. In Colarado it’s legal and they make everything with it. It’s hard to tell a typical brownie and one with Marijuana in it. How do you tell the dif. between a glass of juice and a drink with Marijuana in it how about candy. Even if an adult can tell the dif. a child can not. That is the prob…. now if they wanted to make it legal to have pills I have NO prob. with that but foods and even smoking it… nope I don’t like it. Because it’s harder to control that plus children can get a hold of it and even not meaning to…

That is untrue and you are speculating. I just returned form Colorado and the people are very respectful about marijuana and it’s effects on other people. More so than here is a fair assessment. Ski resorts commonly have people smoking on the lifts but in Colorado it is rarely seen. People who let their kids get to pot and its byproducts are poor parents and that is where the responsibility ends. This kid and others should not be criminals because of some problem you fabricated. Children are just as likely to be exposed to marijuana regardless of its legal status.

Not bad sentence for a 19 year old who would get out at the age of 118. The year would be 2115(I think we all will partying up in Heaven by then)! [cue the tomatoes hitting my comments].

We can call it a fee they charge to keep their crime aka. revenue stream intact by outlawing a shrub.
