Portsmouth, Va. - A worker at a Portsmouth Sonic was shot in the stomach during a robbery early Thursday morning.

Police say around 1:40am Thursday, several suspects went into the Sonic in the 5700 block of Portsmouth Boulevard and demanded money from the employee.

The employee did what the suspects asked and the robbers left with money and his wallet.

After the suspects ran to a car parked nearby, police say the man walked outside.

That is when one of the suspects fired several rounds at the employee hitting him in the stomach.

Police do not have information on who the suspects may be but say they were seen leaving in a gray or silver dodge mini-van with a Redskins sticker in the window.
