Three rescued by Coast Guard after becoming lost on Hog Island

Three people ¬†— a mother, her daughter and daughter’s friend, were rescued by the Coast Guard on Sunday after becoming lost and disoriented on Hog Island on the¬†Eastern Shore.

According to the Coast Guard, they were contacted at approximately 8:00 p.m. by the boyfriend of the mother.

Sector Hampton Roads watchstanders dispatched a crew on an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Elizabeth City.

The crew arrived on scene at approximately 9:30 p.m. and located the victims. A swimmer was lowered and the victims were hoisted into the helicopter and transported to the Accomack County Airport in Melfa.
