Newport News, Va. - A home has been destroyed after flames ripped through it on Monday night.
Officials say the fire occurred at 100 Monarch Way in the Denbigh section of the city.
Calls came in at 7:06 p.m. and crews were on the scene 20 minutes later.
There was heavy fire coming from the first floor when they arrived. They were told that someone was still inside of the home. They went in and searched several times.
They said two civilians tried to get into the home to help before fire crews arrived. They suffered minor injuries and they were treated on the scene.
They owners of the home were away and no one was inside at the time. The home behind it had siding melted off as well.
The Red Cross was sent to the scene to help.
Fire investigators were called to the scene due to the amount of damage.
No cause has been determined yet.
