Japanese sports drink planning to advertise with a can on the moon

A Japanese beverage company, Otsuka, is planning to send a can of powdered sports drink to the moon… as an advertisement.

According to The Verge, The canister will be the first commercial product sent to the moon for marketing purposes.

It will be carried by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket during the first private moon-landing mission, which is scheduled to take place in October 2015.

The canister will be placed on the moon by Pittsburgh-based private company Astrobotic Technology’s “Griffin” lander.
