Truck drives into Newport News Chick-fil-A

chick fil aNewport News, Va. – A truck drove into the side of a Newport News Chick-fil-A around three Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the truck was in the drive through line at the Chick-fil-A near Patrick Henry Mall when the driver apparently stepped on the gas instead of the brakes.

Police say the driver swerved to avoid hitting the car in front of him, ran up on the curb and went partially into the building.

Police say some people were hit by flying glass.  One person was taken to a hospital to be checked.

The driver of the truck was not charged.

The Chick-fil-A drive through is still open, but the dining area is closed for now.
