Crews put out fire at Ruffner Academy Middle School in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. – Crews responded to a fire at Ruffner Academy Middle School on Friday afternoon, officials tell NewsChannel 3.

The fire started just after 1 p.m. in a paper towel dispenser. Crews responded and quickly extinguished the fire.

All students were out of the building when the call came into officials; students had early dismissal at 12:45 p.m. due to lack of air conditioning at the school.

Only staff members were at the school at the time of the fire, and they were evacuated.

No injuries have been reported.
