Virginia Beach, Va. - Two men plunged 12 feet after a construction accident at a new Walmart in Virginia Beach on Monday afternoon.

Amy Valdez with the Virginia Beach Fire Department tells NewsChannel 3 that crews are working on a parking garage for a new Walmart on Columbus Street, which is between Kellam Road and Independence Blvd.

Workers were adjusting a concrete beam when it became dislodged and fell hitting a cherry picker and a man who was inside of the basket was knocked off of it.

Another worker who was working on the beam also fell.

Both men fell 12 feet down.

They were taken in for evaluation and their injuries are considered minor. Officials say the men were conscious, breathing and alert.

Crews have now cleared the scene. They were there to assist with fluid leaking from the cherry picker.
