Isle of Wight, Va. - A body was pulled from the water near the Crittenden Bridge on Friday night.

Isle of Wight dispatch initially received the call at 8:40 p.m. of a woman who jumped off the bridge on Rt. 17 near the Isle of Wight County and Suffolk city line.

Investigators on scene say a Nissan being driven by Charles Beyrod came to a sudden stop on the bridge. Beyrod's girlfriend, Amanda McPhee of Virginia Beach, jumped from the moving car and then fell off the bridge into shallow water.

Her body was later recovered by the Suffolk Fire Department.

Investigators say they found skid marks which led them to believe the car came to an emergency stop.

Deputies say McPhee had a recent history of a psychological disorder

We're told there was no sign of homicidal activity, and no criminal charges are anticipated at this time.
