Update: U.S. Fleet Forces announced late Tuesday that the Hue City will return to Mayport following Monday’s fire onboard the cruiser.

There were no injuries to the crew, and the ship continues to operate under her own power.

Hue City is currently transiting toward Mayport with the USS Gettysburg. Both ships are scheduled to return to port on Friday morning.

The extent of the damage is being assessed, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Norfolk, Va. – A fire broke out aboard USS Hue City late Monday as the Mayport-based ship was transiting the Atlantic.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire, and the ship continues to operate under her own power, according to the Navy.
