Driver arrested after chase from Newport News to Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. – A man was arrested early Friday morning after leading police on a chase from Newport News to Norfolk.

Newport News police say the man was driving a white Oldsmobile when he approached a police license checkpoint on Hampton Roads Center Parkway, then took off.

Newport News police chased the man, who they believed to be driving under the influence, through Newport News, Hampton, through the HRBT and into Norfolk.

The man finally crashed into two cars in a work zone near Bay Ave. and was arrested by a State Police officer working in the construction zone.

There is no word yet on the specific charges the man faces.
