Norfolk, Va. - Friends of a young teen killed at a friend’s party hold a fundraiser for her funeral.

The mother of Tyquisha Craig is thankful for her daughter's elementary school friend Tyjanae Baum.

Baum hosted a car wash and donation rally to make sure Tyquisha's family had enough money to properly bury their 18-year old girl.

“She was a nice person so she deserves a proper beautiful burial like the beautiful person she was,” Baum said. “I just feel like if it was me that was passed away that everybody will help my family have the proper burial for me so I'm just doing that for her."

Today's event was originally supposed to be a car wash, but the rain washed out those plans. That didn't stop people, even strangers came in to give money.

It was one big donation by a stranger who saw our story on Newschannel 3 at 6 that brought everyone in the office to tears.

"He came and donated 100 dollars and that's really a blessing just to know that he doesn't know her to donate that much,"says Baum.

Moments like this helps get Tyquisha's grieving mom through the day, she says.

"I never expected my baby was going to get up that night and I wasn't ever going to see her again, it's hard but everyone is kind of making it easier becasue they are dealing with it and you know helping to raise this money and that's alot," said Tyquisha's mom.

While Norfolk police do not have any leads in Tyquisha's case, her family presses on with the hopes that no one has to lose someone taken too soon.
