Woman killed, off duty firefighter injured in early-morning crash

Virginia Beach, Va. – Police are investigating an early morning crash that left one person dead and one in serious condition.  The accident happened around 7:30am Saturday in the 1400 block of Princess Anne Road near the intersection of Princess Anne and Jarvis Road.

A pickup truck traveling northbound on Princess Anne Road veered to the right off the shoulder, overcorrected and crossed into the southbound lane striking another pickup head on.  Both pickup trucks caught fire on impact.

A group of good samaritans quickly pulled one of the victims out of the their truck. 62-year-old Katherine Margaret Allen of Virginia Beach died at the scene.

The driver of the second truck is a Virginia Beach Firefighter who was off duty at the time of the accident and was headed to work when it happened.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.

    Me, too. Wonder why they gave the name and age of the poor woman who died, and didn’t identify him or publish an update on his condition? I guess death means you lose all right to privacy, as far as the media is concerned-let’s hope someone at least informed her family before it popped up in the news.

      Apparently I can’t edit a comment once it’s posted….WAVY.com has a little more info on this sad occurrence. Apparently the firefighter was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, poor guy. Hope he makes it!

    Honestly, I will no longer be reading WTKR’s news articles. They seem to always lack important information that their reader’s would obviously want to know. They should read their articles before publishing and ask themselves, would I want to know anything else based off this article that I didn’t cover or address? Kind of annoying.
