UPDATE: Route 17 reopens after vehicle fire

A vehicle fire has been reported on Route 17 at Hampton Hwy., according to police dispatch.

At approximately 7:25 a.m. Thursday morning, crews responded to a passenger vehicle fire on Route 17 near Harwood’s Mill Reservoir, near the water treatment plant. A passenger vehicle was heavily involved in fire, according to Paul Long of York County Fire and Life Safety.

Due to construction in the area, Route 17 was shut down for a short time and has since been reopened. State Police responded. The scene is clear.
